چکیده
Abstract Stone blocks, such as marble, granite, and sandstone, are natural materials with excellent properties. The most important dimension stone in Romania is Ruschita a known for its resistance to wear ability maintain beauty, regardless of colour. Regarding colour palette, marble stands out quality suit even the demanding requirements. It available shades yellowish, orange, pale pink or pink, compact structure characteristic veining. Romania’s famous deposit, exploited since end 19 th century. quarry exploitation conditioned by naturally occurring fractures discontinuities, faults, joints, fissures, precluding larger blocks excavating more significant commercial value. This paper describes two largely used techniques discontinuity investigation, namely televiewer scanline methods at quarry.

Stereo Matching Using Scanline Disparity Discontinuity Optimization
We propose a scanline energy minimization algorithm for stereo vision. The proposed algorithm differs from conventional energy minimization techniques in that it focuses on the relationship between local match cost solution and the energy minimization solution. The local solution is transformed into energy minimization solution through the optimization of the disparity discontinuity. In this pa...
متن کاملPhotographing layer thicknesses and discontinuities in a marble quarry with 3D GPR visualisation
An important problem of marble-quarry management is assessing the quality and the homogeneity of quarry blocks before excavation. In this study, we decided to image the limestone, which we studied in a marble quarry, in terms of layer thickness, discontinuities and cavities using the ground-penetrating-radar (GPR) method. The method was successfully applied to detect and map the fractures with ...
متن کاملGeological 3D modeling for excavation activity in an underground marble quarry in the Apuan Alps (Italy)
The three-dimensional laser scanning technique has recently become common in diverse working environments. Even in geology, where further development is needed, this technique is increasingly useful in tackling various problems such as stability investigations or geological and geotechnical monitoring. Three-dimensional laser scanning supplies detailed and complete geometrical information in sh...
متن کاملA novel method for correcting scanline-observational bias of discontinuity orientation
Scanline observation is known to introduce an angular bias into the probability distribution of orientation in three-dimensional space. In this paper, numerical solutions expressing the functional relationship between the scanline-observational distribution (in one-dimensional space) and the inherent distribution (in three-dimensional space) are derived using probability theory and calculus und...
متن کاملMATLAB script for analyzing and visualizing scanline data
Scanline surveys consist of directional and qualitative measurements of rock discontinuities. These surveys are used in geologic and engineering investigations of fractured rock masses. This paper introduces a new MATLAB script developed for visualizing results from scanline surveys as traces in 2D and disks in 3D. The script is also able to cluster orientation data and to present statistical s...
